Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
Job transfer
I am being transferred to a new city for my job. I was told that I had to give 60 days notice and oay 2 months rent. Problem is, I have to move in 30 DAYS and I can't afford to pay rent at both places. Can't my boss write a letter stating that I am being transferred? Do I have to pay the termination fees up front or can I make payments?

Re: Job transfer
Your lease agreement is governed by contract law and statute. If you have an oral month-to-month lease, generally you only need to give 30 days notice. However, if you have a written agreement that requires 60 days rent, then you have to pay 60 days rent.
