Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
Can a landlord refuse to rent to someone with a felon
My son moved in with his friend. He filled out the papers to be put on the lease. He has a felony (uttering and publishing) on his record. They told him he has 60 days to move out and he cannot be on their property. Can they refuse to let him live there or even visit?

The landowner can refuse to lease to him, however cannot prevent his tenants from having visitors over as they choose as that would be a violation of the right to quiet enjoyment of the premises.
