Landlord Tenant

My daughter is living in a basement apt. in East Lansing. There is an on-going leak between the walls, the carpet get saturated and there is mold growing in the closet. The only thing Maintenance does is bring over fans. What is my recourse to get them to clean this up. My daughter is allergic to mold.

Landlords must keep the premises and all common areas fit for the use intended. They must also be kept in reasonable repair and in compliance with applicable health and safety laws of the state and of the local unit of government. The landlord you describe appears to be in breach of these obligations. You might contact the East Lansing Housing Commission and request an inspection.
