Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Landlord and Tenant

We need to evict a tenant from the premises for nonpayment of rent.

We already sent a letter stating our intent via registered mail.

The date for payment has passed. I now have a Notice to Quit/Termination of Tenancy. Do we have to go to court to send this notice, if not is this legal.
