Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Landlord tennant/never received notice

I lost my job and was given a notice to pay or move out..I moved. The landlord sued me and won...$3000.00. I just learned of this when my credit was pulled. I was never given a notice and I contacted the court to find out where the notice was sent and the landlord sent the noitce to the house I moved/she rented to me. Is there and clause or something that protects renters? I owe her but not $ 3000.00

Re: Landlord tennant/never received notice

File a motion to set aside the judgment arguing to the court that the judgment should be set aside because of the failure of notice. If you cannot afford an attorney, contact the court clerk in the county in which the case was argued. Ask the clerk for a motion form. Complete the document as best you can and file it with the clerk.
