Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Leasing company

We entered into a 6 month lease with a property managment company. We are on friendly terms with the owner of the house so we've been in contact. The management company hasn't paid the owner any of the monies owed. The checks that have been paid to the owner of the house have bounced. We have paid the management company in full on time everytime but feel really bad for the owner of the house. Attempts to reach the management company have failed but they still cash our checks. Can we legally stop paying the management company and just pay the owner of the house? Also, how do we go about getting the security/pet deposit out of the management company?

Re: Leasing company

You have an obligation to stop paying the management company if you have information that evidences they are engaged in criminal activity such as embezzlement. The owner should contact the prosecuting attorney. The owner has no obligation to continue with the management company when they are in breach of their agreement with them. He can fire them and direct you to pay him.
