Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
Leaving an unsigned lease.
I am leaving a rental property in which I have not signed a lease. I am leaving behind two roomates that have signed the lease. I have given them two week notice. What are the financial consequences that I can face?

Re: Leaving an unsigned lease.
It depends on your agreement with the lessees (if you did not sign the original lease, you should be considered a sublessee). Generally, a verbal lease (or, sublease in this case) is a "month-to-month" lease, and you should give 30 days notice if you pay rent monthly. Based on the facts you have provided, you have no obligation to the lessor if you did not sign a lease.
