Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
can i legally break my lease if the tenant has neglected to fix problems after being informed over 5 months ago. Problems include bad plumbing, a carpenter ant infestation, violations of fire laws, and several instances of people being bitten by poisonous and potentially deadly spiders.

No. You can only attempt to make chargeoffs to your rent due. Of course, it is up to a Judge to decide the case, but breaking the lease entirely is a drastic measure that I believe most Judges would not go for unless the matter is extreme. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss further. Tim Klisz
