Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
I live in Jenison, Michigan and have a rental property with non-paying tenants in Stronach, Michingan which is near Manistee. (upper-lower peninsula). The arrearage no owing is $5490.00 I would like to represent myself as the cost of legal representation is not an option at this time. Could somebody explain in some detail which steps to take as far as initial notification, to papers served, court date, District or Circuit etc... so that I can effectively move forward with regaining posession of my property and collecting what is due. I would very much appreciate any and all help at this point. I have always been curious to learn this side of being a landlord, but I would prefer to be tutored as needed. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me qualified professional assistance.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Unfortunately, this is the meat and potatoes of landlord-tenant law and I don't think attorneys will provide this information for an individual to represent themselves. Understanding this dilemma, I offer a consultation to individuals like yourself, for a fee, so that you can represent yourself in Court without the high cost of hiring an attorney to take you every step of the way.
