Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
I lived in Detroit, MI, for 7 months, and before I moved out I had the apartment inspected and found out it was not registered with the city as a rental property and that it did not have a certicate of compliance with the city either, so my question is, was my rental agreement with the landlord valid or legal?

If you are asking this to find out if you would be entitled to a refund of your money, the answer is no. You derived a benefit from living at the residence, so even if the landlord violated the law by failing to obtain a certificate of occupancy or other requirements in place by a governmental authority, you are not entitled to a refund of any rent monies paid.
