Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
I'm in Michigan, and have a difficult tenant who doesn't get along with the rest in the house and paid rent late several times. Their lease will be up in a few months and I don't want to renew the lease. I've mailed a non-rewewal notice and now the tenant says they're being treated unfairly and is going to seek Legal assistance. As far I all I have read and found out, I am within my rights as a landlord to choose not to renew a tenant's lease at the end of a term. Should I be worried that I've done something wrong?

As long as your decision is not retaliation against their complaints or requests to repair things in the house, or is based on race, sex, religion, etc. I would think you are ok. If you get sued, get an attorney on board ASAP. Tim Klisz. Kliszlaw.com
