Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

I have been in a month to month lease, for a year, and my nlandlord just informed me, that he has a buyer for the property, and that he needs my ex-wife and kids out asap. i told him that i would start looking for a replacement residence, but, it could take a little time. His response was, that he would give me 15 days, and no more, as he could loose the buyer, so if necessary, he would have a sheriff move us out!

question... does he have this power, to move us into the street, with only two weeks notice? doesn't he have to go through the court? can i fight this?

Your landlord must give you 30 days notice, if you are on a month to month lease. He can take you to court now, and ask the judge to order an eviction,...in 30 days. You can go to court and ask the court for an extension. Maybe you will get this, maybe you won't. You are living in this property with your ex-wife? This is a little weird, but if you have a good story, the judge might be sympathetic. Whatever you do, don't ignore any order to show up for court. If you don't show up, you lose automatically.
