Re: Rental Property Foreclosure
In Michigan, in most foreclosure actions, there is a redemption period of six months during which you may continue to reside in the home and attempt to purchase it back if you choose. At the end of the six months the owner/bank will have the Sheriff/Court Officer serve a writ to remove you and belongings from the home.
However, if you abandon the home, fail to pay utilities so the home is damaged such as pipes freezing, or are doing destruction to the home during the six month period the bank my accelerate the six months and seek to take possession of the home sooner.
