Is there any laws to protect renters who do not have a lease from being evicted from a home where they have paid all bills on time and in full? our landlord has been in jail for 5 months and now that he is out wants me and my kids to move out by jan. first. i am not financally able to do this. can he legally do this to us in the middle of winter? i am desperate and need legal advise. please help.

Yes, he can evict you with the proper notice. It is his property, and he can use it as he wishes. Without a lease, he will need to give you 30 days notice. This must be done by sending you a notice to quit.
