Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
I have been renting a home since 2008, and just found out the my home that I have been paying rent for has been in foreclosure and is up for a sheriff sale next month. Can I sue my land lord for back rent since they knew it was up for foreclosure and she still collected rent. And also is there any legal way to purchase the home my self before it is sold
Thanks

Your landlord still owns the house, so you still owe the rent. The lender has probably notified the owner that the lender may want the rent as well. You lived there, so why would you be entitled to a refund of your rent?
You could buy the house now, before it goes to auction, IF you can qualify for a mortgage, AND you can get the lender to withdraw the property from the sale. OR you can wait till the property is sold, and be the highest bidder. You need to contact the county courthouse to get the foreclosure information, get your finances together, and be prepared to make your offer. If you don't know what you are doing, you may want to hire an attorney to represent you in this matter. In the meanwhile, you will need to do "due diligence" to investigate every thing that you need to know about this property. Otherwise, you could be just buying someone else's headache.
