Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

I have been renting a house that has went to foreclosure and is under redemption period. My landlord never called or explained anything going on to us. I originally was going to do a rent to own on property but with in 3 months i had already fixed several things, so i changed mind. I have had major issues with bathroom toilet and once again had a contractor out to try and fix. Well this person informed me i should call city that flooring and such isnt done properly. Upon checking city requires home to be certified and inspected and they told me she is illegally renting me home and she could be in major trouble. My question is can i hold her to breech of contract and just get out without being in trouble? I have put over 20,000 in this and feel harrassed by her creditors and sick of plunging toilet.

You need a lawyer. If you have put $20,000 into this property, toward a lease/purchase contract, and the seller is in foreclosure, you have real problems. A real estate attorney may be able to help you, but if you delay any longer, your money may be gone, and the house with it. Her creditors should not be contacting you at all, and you may have a claim against them too.
