Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan
I am renting a single unit building in Holt MI for retail sales. my building shares a parking lot with another building, a 3 unit suite. there is one (1) water meter suppling water to all four (4) rentals.
my question is.... is this a legitimate set up ( OR ) Is each rental suppose to have its own meter??
thank you
Tim

The city doesn't care so long as the water bill gets paid. The properties must have been owned by the same person at one time, in order to have only 1 meter. Is this legitimate? How is your lease worded? Was the "shared" water meter disclosed, if you were expected to pay the water bill? If the landlord pays the water bill, why would you care?
