Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Today I received 2 PHOTOCOPIED subpoenas in the mail that I did NOT have to sign for and were not hand delivered from an old landlord requesting proof of last 2 payments of my car loan and electric bill. The subpoena is to his office 4 days from now at 5 pm not to court. Why would he need proof of payment of my car loan? Is this legit? I haven't lived there for a year and a half and I broke my lease. I don't want to be held in contempt of court but I feel like this is shady.
