Wrong Address
Can a landlord sue a tenant, after they have moved, and the landlord gave the court the incorrect address for the tenant. The tenant never knew they were being sued until they got a garnishment at work?
Isn't there a law that should protect someone from being sued without prior knowledge so that they could defend themselves?
The lawsuit awarded was for a whopping $12,000. for a basement apartment. If the whole basement had been disassembled, it still would not have been worth that much. That is why I think the address was intentionally incorrectly. Otherwise couldn't you just go around suing rich people without prior knowledge and be awarded the claim?

As long as you did not give the landlord the wrong address, you should have a motion to set the judgment aside filed on your behalf. That amount of a money judgment warrants hiring an experienced attorney. Please feel free to call for more information.
