Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Michigan
Attorney Did Not Do His Job In Representing Me
Can legal action be taken to recover attorney fees or more from an attorney that did not do his job. I hired an attorney in a custody case. At the first hearing he was unprepared and knew nothing about my case. He misrepresented facts. He said little in my defense in the hearing and did not want me to say anything. Had I not, joint legal custody would have been given. The court order came the other attorney put in things such as joint legal as well as other things not given by judge. My attorney sent it to me as it was. I called him to tell him it was wrong he said we did not need to be in any hurry to correct it. I agreed to this not knowing about the seven day rule which was submitted by and my attorney did not file any objection to it until I called to ask what that was and by then it was to late as it had been almost two weeks past when it was filed. There was a hearing for a makeup visitation that my attorney was notified about and he did not contact me to let me know. What can be done if anything?
