Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Michigan

I called ATT for TV service. They transferred me through Direct TV. I then continued to get service for my duplex that i rent. They approved me for service and told me i had to pay $200 due to my credit to receive service. This is for equipment and installation. I then received a phone call the next day saying my account has been canceled. this is after they took 223 from account, which is more then i agreed too. I asked why my service was denied they said there is an outstanding bill due at this address and that "i" am now accountable for and if i want to get service. This account is under a different social security number and is a totally separate account from mine. They refuse to give my money back and repeatedly hang up on me. They say i have to take it up with my bank cause its their problem now. They are stealing my money and are holding me accountable for a debt that is not mine..

THANK YOU

Small Claims court handles problems such as this. Start with a letter to Direct TV customer service informing them that they have 5 days to refund your money or you will sue. Then follow up by going to your local county court house, pick up the forms, and a "how to" booklet, and fill it out. You will have to pay a filing fee, so be sure to include the amount of the filing fee as part of your damages. Be sure to have copies of your bank statements, and make notes as to when you called, who you talked to, and what was said.
