Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Michigan

gaingreen of the bowel

my premie was born in december but was due in march. she stayed in NICU until february. she was strong and doing good. she had two prior incidences of a large stomach but the doctors gave her antibiotics and thought she had gas and infection. the last monday of february she was close to coming home but that night her stomach became swollen and hard and they rushed her to childrens hospital for x-rays and observation. she became very sick and unable to breathe without 100% oxygen (until then, the most she had ever been on was 35% oxygen). that friday, february 28, they operated on her because she wasn't doing better and saw that her entire intestine was black. she died. the cause on her death certificate was 'gaingreen of the bowel'. i need to know if the hospital could have prevented the spread of the graingreen if they had transferred her the prior two times her stomach became enlarged?

The only way to determine the answer to your question is to obtain all the hospital records and have them reviewed by physicians with appropriate credentials. It is absolutely essential that you utilize an attorney who is familiar with this area of the law, especially when it comes to neonatal care. I have a great deal of experience and success in this area. Call me at 248-353-9400. I'll get you into the office immediately and take the necessary steps to obtain those records and have them reviewed. William S. Stern
