Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Michigan

Went in with problem, came out nearly crippled.

May 24, 2004. I went into ER for chest pain (percardinitis). I was admitted to ICU. I left the hospital the next day. The following morning my joints...wrists, fingers, knees, hip, ankle, arms, shoulders were extremely painful that I could hardly walk or use the bathroom, my eyes are blood red sometimes. My pains is present as I type now. My family couldn't understand why suddenly this happened. I went and got my medical records for the dates above. I am allergic to Penicillin, Sulfa (sulfates), and Terramycin. I found out that my doctor (who I only seen one time in ICU)and heart specialist ordered IV shots ofRocephin (twice) and Morphine about six to eight times. I looked up these medicines on Web MD and Mayo Clinic websites. I found out the Rocephin should not be given to people with penicillin or penicillin like allergies. And the Morphine was Morphine Sulfate. My mother called ICU and spoke with a nurse. And she told her that I had a bad night. I wonder why that was? I was never given any antibotics after the hospital visit until this past Thurday (07/01/04)when I went back to my old doctor. He wondered why didn't the other clinic prescribed me antibotics after the hospital visit. Now I can't find a job I can function with.

Re: Went in with problem, came out nearly crippled.

If it was a drug alergy, the problem was not permanent. No one can even think of taking a malpractice case unless the damages are massive and usually permanent. The costs are far too high (many times 10s of thousands of dollars) and the risks very substantial. Therefore, forget it. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
