A patient is abusing narcotics and getting prescriptions from numerous doctors. Is it the legal responsibility of the pain clinic who obtain this information to contact all the physicians from which narcotics are being dispensed.

The pain clinic professionals must act as would other pain clinic professionals. The standard of care is judged by what others in similar situations with like expertise and qualifications would do. Therefore, you should be contacting other pain clinics and/or nurses - physicians who work in pain clinics. A patient could always come back at you and argue that you did not take the steps you should have to care for and treat him.
