Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I'm an American canoe association certified kayak instructor in Michigan. I'm going on a trip to Cumberland Island. Ga with 11 others, some of whom may not be greatly skilled paddlers and were invited by another person.

Should an incident occur where someone gets hurt, would I somehow be responsible since I am an instructor? I'm not holding myself out as a leader of any sort though I did help plan the trip camping with another instructor friend
