Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan
Auto Accident
My husband and I were passengers in our friends vehicle, when she lost control and hit a tree. My husband suffered a broken wrist, and I, a broken elbow. My question is- the accident was in April 2007, the insurance company covered all the bills, but my husband has a physically demanding job and is having alot of problems with the wrist he broke in the accident... is the insurance company still liable for the doctor bills if he goes back to the doctor to get it checked out again???

Re: Auto Accident
The short answer is a resounding YES.
You are talking about First Party No-Fault Benefits, commonly called PIP.
Under PIP your husband, and you, have very specific rights. If the checkup or return visit is related to injuries he had in the accident, the insurance company should pay them.
You might also be entitled to seek damages from the driver of the vehicle (actually it would be more like suing her insurance comapany). That would be a Third Party action
I can certainly help you navigate the waters so-to-speak. Close to 90% of my work involves PIP and Third Party automobile cases in Michigan.
I do lots of work between Detroit and Grand Rapids so Fendwick would be a snap.
Give me a call and I'd be more than happy to talk things over with you for free.
Re: Auto Accident
The inusrance company is liable forever for the injuries. You should talk to a lawyer to see if the driver's insurance may have to pay damages as it sounds like the injuries may have been substantial. It all depends upon the extent to which your life was altered by the injuries. Feel free to call. William S. Stern
