Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I got in a car accident by a driver that ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of my car. A police report was filed and he got a ticket. My insurance doesn't have collision on it and only basic. My insurance states I can only get $500 towards my car from his insurance company. The bill is $2000. Is there any way that I can get the other driver to pay for my car? I have already called him and explained that I need help paying for the damages, but he refuses.

The law is clear. As long as both parties are insured, $500 mini tort is the maximum recovery for collision damage. That is why each owner needs to cover their own car for collision damage. Kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
