Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

Changing Lawyers

My case is in progress but has not gone to trial yet. Is it too late to change my lawyer and find someone else to represent me?

Re: Changing Lawyers

Hello, I have received a copy of your e-mail. Yes you are entitled to change lawyers. There are 2 major cautions. First, the judge may not allow it if the change of attorneys will result in a delay in the trial. This should not be a problem from what you have described. Second, you will still owe the first attorney for any out of pocket expenses s/he has advancerd, Additionally, some type of fee will be due to the lawyer for the services that have already been provided on your behalf. If you would like to discuss this in greater detail, please feel free to call. John C. Talpos (http://www.Mich-Lawyer.com)

Re: Changing Lawyers

Depending on how close the case is to trial, you may have a difficult time getting another lawyer to take it over. However, you have the right to find different counsel if you are unsatisfied with present counsel. Good luck to you.
