Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan
defamation, libel & slander
My son is dating a girl whose is separated from her husband, who is currently incarcerated for weapons theft and dealing, and she is filing for divorce.
Her husband’s family has taken an aggressive stand against her and started posting things about her on a website.
Then one of them went to my sons work to try to get him fired, and they also contacted me by email stating that she was involved in all of the burglaries and has broken into their house many times.
The stuff that they are posting about my son and his girlfriend are very slanderous, calling them crack heads, whore, she’s a bad mother (2 children) etc., all of which is untrue.
Neither of them has ever been in trouble for any of those things.
They have even started posting things about me, I’m Looney, crazy, and all of this is posted on a public site that can be seen by anyone.
Can any of us sue these people for defamation of character or harassment?
Their location is posted on Myspace so anyone in my city seeking others in my city will find them and read this garbage.
What action, if any, should we pursue?
Thank You

Hire a lawyer in your area and sue them.

Send a demand for a retraction. Give them two days. Do this by certified mail. Then sue them for defamation. William S. Stern
