Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan
I was heading south through an intersection on a moped at approximately 25 MPH. There was a car heading north through the same intersection with his left blinker on suggesting that he was going to make a left turn. There is not traffic light or stop sign in the north-south direction. Having the right of way, I continued through the intersection at which time the car turned directly into my moped. I was thrown from the moped onto the pavement. The front end of the moped was destroyed (there is no insurance). The police were called and I had a friend take me to the hospital to have my shoulder looked at.
Injuries: Fractured right collarbone, thigh bruises, sprained ankle, scrapes/cuts
Restrictions: Missed three days of class (I'm in college), I am unable to participate in classes for two weeks (I am right handed, can't write), I can't drive (I own a manual transmission vehicle), and I can't work for at least 2 weeks.
I would like to get some compensation from either the person's insurance or the actual person for the damages to the moped, medical bills, and lost wages. Is there a reason case for a lawsuit of some kind? If so, what are my options?
