Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

individual took loan and refuses to pay

An individual took loan from me at different times promising to pay me in a couple weeks and gave me blank checks in exchage. We did not sign any paperwork but the money was in the form of a check. Some of his checks bounced. He says he gambled the rest away. Since then, he has done this to more than one person.

1. Can I get my money back with interest, court costs and emotional distress etc. How much can I claim in damages?

2. Are there any statute of limitations involved?

3. Can his wages be garnished and how much can be garnished?

4. Can he be hauled in for fraud?

Thankyou

Re: individual took loan and refuses to pay

File police report. Police may say it is a civil matter. Your only damages will be the money you lost under Michigan law. Some states may allow additional recovery. Bill Stern
