Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Breaking a lease when buying a house

I heard that it is legal in the state of Michigan to break a rental lease when buying your first home. It was explained that it is an incentive to people to buy a home, and also because if the market is good, people shouldn't have to wait until their lease expires to buy a home. IS THIS TRUE? Where can I find the legal document that states this, so I can show it to my landlord?

Re: Breaking a lease when buying a house

Have never heard of such a thing. A lease is a binding contract and unless it states in the lease that your purchase of a home will allow you to terminate the lease if you purchase a home, purchasing a home will not terminate the lease.
