Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
Breaking a lease
We had a water pipe break in our apartment. We had to move most of our belongs out, and have been shipped to a hotel for the week. Our lease is up at the end of March, so we pretty much have to move out, back in to move out again. This is not the first time that a water pipe has broken, the apartment across the hall had the exact same problem less than a week ago. The property manager and matenince staff acted as if we were in the way whole time we were moving our stuff out. Is there any way we can get out of our lease?

Re: Breaking a lease
If there is water damage/ ongoing issue then you could claim "constructive eviction" on the landlord's part, and disclaim any further liability
