Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
My brother and I got my dads house in 2004 it is in Michigan. I lived in Colorado at the time and could not afford to pay any taxes. So supposedly my brother had my name taken off the deed to the house. We moved back to Michigan in June last year and last week by chance I found out I am still on the deed. I have paid him 1,500.oo towards the taxes last year and he did not use the money for the taxes, and also to find out the taxes are 2 years behind.
What are my legal rights towards the house and can I change the locks on the house, so he can't come in and go through our personal things... He has come in the house before when we have been gone.

Since you are both on the deed, neither of you can lock out the other. You would need to file a partition action in circuit court to get the judge to order a sale if you can't agree on the split.
