Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
I closed on a property in October of 2012, now owning tand having title to the property. The seller has just now (March 29 of 2013) sent me an email stating 'there is a discrepancy/oversight in the closing of your lot'. He says he was underfunded from the closing because the Title company misconstrued a credit to him that I had paid earlier as an escrow payment? Kind of confusing. Bottom line is he is saying he came out $2500 short from that closing and he wants me to pay it. I feel the Title document put a closure on the contract and what is in the final Title is just that. However the funds were allocated, both parities agreed and the Title company agreed to the transferal of the property to me.
Can I ignore the past owners demand for more money for a property I now own.

Yes. That's the title company's problem now. Not yours.
