Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
commercial lease
I signed a 5 year lease with another person (two seperate businesses in the beauty industry). The lease was signed under both our personal names as well as each of our business names. The other person changed her mind, moved everything out except for several items and stopped paying her share of the rent. I have been paying her share since she has moved out (in fear of being evicted). The landlord had no interest in what happened. I can not afford to continue paying both shares. We did not have an agreement between each other.
What recourse do I have? Can the Landlord evict me? The space is layed out where the landlord cannot split the space. I have been trying to lease out the rooms to no avail. The rent is $1,850.00 per month + all utilities (approx.300.00) per month.
Thank You So Much

Re: commercial lease
You could try and should try to renegotiate with the landlord. You may also try and sue the other person based upon an oral agreement or under an equitable principle. You should contact an attorney.
