Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

My ex-roommate decided last year that she wanted me to move out and gave me less then a week to find somewhere to go. It has been 10 months and I still have not been able to get my belongings from her. She has not answered the phone or door to me since the day I left. What should I do?

You should have taken your stuff with you when you moved out. Send her a demand letter to retrieve your items. If she fails to respond, sue her in small claims court for the value of your stuff that she still has. Be prepared to prove the value, and show proof that you gave her an opportunity to respond to you.
