Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Our family inherited a tract of land in MI which includes a pond. We are dividing the land between us and one part of the family will get the land with the pond and 10 feet surrounding it. Since the water's edge of the pond changes with rainfall, etc. what it the best legal way to measure the 10 feet to make it as accurate as possible?
