Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
My fence starts out on my property but crosses the neighbors property by about 6 inches in the front. It has been there 50+ years. The neighbor claims he owns the fence. what do I do

IF:
1. The person putting up the fence thought it was ON the lot line, and
2. If this fence was there, without complaint or comment by the neighbor for more than 15 years, (starting back 50 years ago, or at any 15 year consecutive period since)
then,
not only do you own the fence, but you also own the property on your side of the fence, up to the fence.
