If your uncle is missing and presumed dead, his heirs will take his estate through probate. If you pay the taxes you can record a "lis pendens" against the property to protect your interest. In the event that your uncle suddenly reappears, claiming ownership of the home, you will eventually be repaid for your expenditures. You may file an action against him for "unjust enrichment" in that case. If you are the only heir, you may be able to file an action to "quiet title" to your interest in the property. An attorney can apply the law to the facts of your case, but you will need to provide more information.
