Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
The house that is next to mine was foreclosed on and is getting ready to go back on the market. I own the land on three sides of this house. The problem is that the property line runs through the deck and a dog kennel on the back of the house. I had the land survayed 10 years ago and that is what the company that did it told me. At that time the told my neighbor that it would not be a problem unless he sold the house. I have contacted the realator and told them of the problem. He told me that I may be forced to sell some of my land at current land value to right the situation. I need to know if they can force me to sell them part of my land. I do not want to sell.

Depending on how long you have had the property, you may be able to sue your neighbor to keep the portion you believe is yours due to acquiescene or under the theory of adverse possession.
