Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
My husband thought he was doing a nice thing for the neighbor and plowed the snow from his driveway. The neighbor showed up at nearly 8 pm, yelling and swearing at my husband that he had damaged his property. My husband tried to apologize, explained that he would fix or pay for any damage, but the man continued to berate my husband in front of our children. Later, the neighbor's wife showed up and she also verbally assaulted my husband and is threatening to call the police on him for having trespassed. At this point, I am nervous that these individuals are going to return to our home again. There seems to be no talking rationally with them. Is my husband legally in trouble for trying to help? How can we protect ourselves from their tirades?

Ignore them. I can't see the police acting on this. It's ridiculous. If they continue to harass you, call the police yourself. So much for good samaritan, huh?
