This made me laugh. Not sure why.

Anyways, a JD degree is what a lawyer has. However, to actually practice law as a lawyer or attorney, a person holding a JD has to be licensed by the state.

In other words, simply because the person has a JD degree does NOT mean they are a licensed lawyer.

You can verify if a lawyer is licensed by looking up their license in the state of michigan's website, or looking in the State Bar of Michigan's attorney directory, which only contains the names of licensed attorneys.
