Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

My landlord entered my home while I was not there more then once. The first time they left my door unlocked and the second time they left a letter in the door. They did not give notice either time as its states in the lease. I now feel uneasy about living there and would like to leave. I was wondering if I should file a police report so its on record somewhere or what else I can do.

Your lease permits the landlord to enter only for an emergency or with reasonable notice and/or with your permission. You can file a police report, but you should also send them a letter by registered mail that they have violated the terms of your lease agreement. If you really want to break your lease, have a real estate attorney write the letter, after reviewing your lease agreement.
