Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
in the lease it states that yes they can evict me for utility shut offs even though they are not responsible for them i am 100%. But the utility issues that are rising to the surface are from a different past residence. I am being charged for months i was not living there and they shut off both my electric and gas while i was trying to settle the disputes. both equaling a strike. and with the money issues i was resolving i fell behind on my rent one month to make strike three. can they seriously kick me out so soon?

If you live in Michigan, and you let the utilities get shut off, due to non payment or any other reason, the landlord has the right to protect his property from freezing pipes and water damage. Your landlord can do whatever it says in your lease if you don't maintain the utilities and pay the rent on time, providing that the condition of the lease does not violated tenant landlord law in Michigan. The reason that you aren't paying the utilities and rent is not relevant to the fact that you must pay to stay. They must give you notice to vacate.
