Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Liens?

I have a chattel mortage with an individual which I have NEVER defaulted or been late with payment. This is not the issue though. The issue is the individual placed a lien on my property as colleteral for a personal loan he incurred. Now to complicate things he was paid copletely by my mortage company for said property and he has no interest in the property. We only have a chattel mortage between us which my antique furnitue was used as colleteral and nothing else. Did he have legal rights to use my property for his personal loan?

Re: Liens?

He may or may not have had a right to do that, but because you did not pay under protest, you may have lost your rights to recover any money. You don't say how much the loan was for or for how long, but now the debt is repaid.
