Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
My mother sold a piece of land to a couple on a land contract. They verbally revised the term of payment on the contract, and my mother unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago (no will). The couple only has 2 payments left to make on the contract and are prepared to pay it in full, if the ownership can be legally transferred to them. How do my sibling and I proceed?

It depends on whether she signed a deed before her passing. If so, exchange a deed for the final payment. If not, probate will be needed to transfer the property out of her name. I can help.
