Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
My partner and I own some real estate free and clear. We both invested equal amounts, 50/50. The building is 7600 square feet. I have chosen to open a business, using a little less than half of the building. My partner has used the remaining half to store various tools. My partner is not happy about my business, and has done several things to prevent me from continuing. Such things as cutting out our power, pulling fuses to shut off our heat, and taking our phone system out. Are there laws to prevent him from doing these things? Also, he now wants to charge me rent for using the space. I own 50% of the building, can he do that? Feeling very frustrated, and looking for some guidance.

You could negotiate or file a quiet title action.
