Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Property Triangle

My girlfriend and I live in a house together that she purchased with her ex-boyfriend who is the father of her son (my soon to be step-son). He has been threatening to try and have me removed from the propety. Could he do that either before or after my girlfriend and I are married?

Re: Property Triangle

The short answer is no, he would have a difficult time with that based on her part ownership interest in the home. I have a few other ideas that might work. Contact me at www.kliszlaw.com to discuss in detail. Tim Klisz

Re: Property Triangle

If you live in the property you are a tenant and can only be evicted by legal methods applicable to all tenants. Your girlfriend as owner would have an equal say in your tenancy as she is landlord. You have a solid position.
