Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan
real estate law
In Michigan you now have to have a title and deed for refinancing a manufactured home. We tried to apply for the title ( we never received one when we bought our home in '94) at the secretary of state office, and were told that the title was still in the original owners name. Unfortunately for us, we bought the property, from a credit union that had foreclosed on the original owner and they never changed the title to reflect the foreclosure. They now tell us that they cannot help us because it has been 14 years and they never knew that it was a manufactured home. Which is an untrue statement because it is in the deed and title insurance papers. The Title insurance company will not respond to us and we have been at this for about 7 weeks and we are very frustrated.
